Annual County Budgets
Matt Reynolds, Clerk of the Circuit Court, serves as the Budget Officer for the Putnam County BOCC. The Finance Department of the Clerk of the Circuit Court carries out the duties of preparing the County’s proposed annual budget, presenting it to the BOCC, and facilitating the budget process. The annual budget process culminates in the adoption of ad valorem tax millage rates and the adoption of an annual budget.
The budget of the BOCC includes funding for the operations of County Commission departments as well as funding for the operations of the County’s Constitutional Officers; the Clerk of the Circuit Court, Property Appraiser, Sheriff, Supervisor of Elections, and Tax Collector. Additionally the County budget includes funding for a variety of other services including among others, the County Health Unit and the costs associated with criminal prosecutions.
It is important to note that the BOCC is not responsible or authorized to fund the County School System, Municipalities, or Water Districts that exist in Putnam County. These entities are separately funded and are the responsibility of other governing boards.
